The comedy
show “A Laugh with Mathematics”, which seeks to address this issue in an
accessible and entertaining way for the general public, will be staged on
October 17 at the ABA Theater in Panama City. They indicated that the funds
raised will contribute to financing the Foundation's projects.
Dr. Jeanette
Shakalli, executive director of FUNDAPROMAT, pointed out that "this
initiative is part of the efforts made by this organization to promote
mathematics, from a fun perspective, in order to change the negative perception
that many people have towards this science".
“We at the
foundation want to convince children, young people and adults that mathematics
does not have to be seen as complex or difficult. On the contrary, we want
people to have the opportunity to explore the beauty and richness of
mathematics and to know that this science is present in our daily lives. For
this reason, we felt that theater is an excellent resource to achieve this
goal,” explained Shakalli.
"Laughing
at Mathematics" follows the story of a father reluctant to let his son
study mathematics, a teacher who teaches in a fun way that everyone can learn
regardless of age, and a group of friends who talk about how they use
mathematics in their lives, a staging suitable for the whole family.
The libretto
and the direction of the work are in charge of Jorge García, with the
performances of: Yamiselle Díaz, Sammy Ibarra, Kathleen Moreno and Jorge
García.
